California State University Fullerton, also known as Cal State Fullerton, is the largest of the California State universities. With an enrollment of over 37,000 Cal State Fullerton is also the third largest of all California universities. Located in Fullerton California, Cal State Fullerton is recognized as having one of the top business schools in America. The Mihaylo College of Business and Economics is fully accredited, and one of the largest in the country.
Known as the Titans, Cal State Universities mascot is an elephant known as Tuffy the Titan. The elephant concept stems from an event dubbed the Human Elephant Race of the 1960's. California State University Fullerton boasts many famous Titan alumni such as Kevin Costner, Gwen Stefani, director James Cameron and Adam Lambert. The Titans also have produced some famous athletic alumni such as Jason and Jeremy Giambi, Bruce Bowen, Cedric Ceballos, coach Steve Mariucci, and Aaron Rowand. Baseball players such as the Giambi's and Rowen particularly have something to be proud of as he Cal State Fullerton Titans are recognized as one of the top baseball programs in the country. The Titans have one four nation championships since the 1970's including the most recent in 2004. There has been 43 Titan baseball players who have made it to Major League Baseball.
Cal State Fullerton also has had success in other athletics such as Gymnastics, Fencing, Bowling, Softball, Women's basketball and mens basketball. However one sport Cal State Fullerton will not be flourishing in any time soon will be football. The Titans football program was discontinued in 1992. Current efforts to reinstate the football program include a petition that has been to no avail.
